"Play is the way a child learns what no one can teach him."
                                                                                                                                                         Lawrence Frank

The curriculum is truly play-based. This school has been doing for 50 years what research is now showing to be of critical importance for early childhood learning and development. -Allison and Greg S.

As Minnesota's oldest preschool, we pride ourselves on our play-based curriculum.  "Young children learn through play. When they play, children actually use what they are learning, and that makes it easier for them to understand and remember later. Through play, children also develop an important set of skills called executive functioning. Executive functioning skills help us get things done and achieve goals, allowing us to pay attention, stay focused, resist temptations and distractions, do what is expected of us in the moment, and resist impulses that are inappropriate for a given situation." The Most Important Year Pre-Kindergarten and the Future of Our Children by Suzanne Bouffard.

LPNS offers three enrollment choices. We have two traditional half day options: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30-11:30 ($225/month) and Tuesday and Wednesday 12:30-3 ($127/month). The third option is to enroll in both the morning and afternoon session ($352/month plus lunch fee). Afternoon  options are open to 4-year-olds or students who have attended the previous year.

Children have the option of bringing a lunch and eating with their friends and a teacher from 11:30-12:30. This is open to all children, regardless of the session(s) they attend. The cost is $5.25 per day and lunches must meet state guidelines. LPNS supplies milk.
